Day 75- Operation Homefront and Pinwheel Steaks

Last year's entry sure made this year's donation easy!  I wrote last year about a yellow ribbon I always spied on the way home.  It is a symbol for those who are serving our country, but it is also so much more than that.  The yellow ribbon also represents a family back here at home who needs support as well.

Operation Homefront gives assistance to military families while their loved ones are deployed.  They provide a whole variety of services, from food to auto to moving to furniture to holiday programs and all kinds of other things.  I can only imagine how tough it must be for some of these families while their loved ones are away, and I am thankful for the opportunity to help them in my own tiny little way.

While it may be just a small gesture I can make, there is a big thought attached to it... and a bunch of prayers too.  It may be a little selfish.  I like watching those videos of people coming home to their families.  They may me cry.  In a nice way.

Tom and I collaborated on a wonderful project tonight.

We tried this new pinwheel steak recipe and loved it!  The recipe included many of my favorite ingredients- steak, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and all kinds of lovely spices.  Our little creations don't look nearly as good in the picture as they tasted, but I promise you that they were deeeeeee-lic-ousssssss!  They made our house smell like a quality restaurant, and we both agreed that they belong on future menus in this household.

We enjoyed our steaks with mashed potatoes (made from scratch, not from the box) and gravy, salad, and a fresh fruit salad.  By "fresh fruit", I mean as fresh as you can get in March in the middle of the country, of course.  I'm looking forward to enjoying this meal all over again at lunch tomorrow :).

Thank you, pinwheel steaks, you made my day.
