Day 82- Bright Yellow Sweater

Today I made a choice to be happy.  You might say I had sunshine on a cloudy (and rainy) day.  This came in the form of a bright yellow sweater.  After all, I think sunshine is a state of mind (and the fact that my classroom doesn't have windows allows me some wiggle room with the ol' imagination).   

I knew that it was supposed to be rainy today, and I knew that it would be a long day of running around, especially because Tom is traveling again.  I selected my outfit carefully this morning and found one of the brightest things I had to put on.

It turns out that the world not only looks brighter from behind a smile, but it's also pretty bright from behind a vibrant yellow sweater.  Instead of just matching my clothes to my disposition, it seems as if I can actually use them to help create a sunny disposition.  Whatever works, right?

Thank you, bright yellow sweater, you made my day.

Day 278- GLEE Premiere

GLEE Tuesdays are baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!! :) I've been excited for this day since the season finale.  It was International Peace Day today, and we were celebrating at school.  While my students wrote ideas about how they might spread peace in their worlds for their warm-up, we listened to the Glee recording of "Imagine."  Between that and our sensory details activity with popcorn, it was a fun day at school. Day 77- and Divine Intervention

Sigh... I was dreaming sweet Pottery Barn dreams on this day last year, thanks to that dang catalog coming in the mail.  My donation today was made to a place that helps others to dream those sweet design dreams. http://architectureforhumanity.org/ The tagline pretty much says it all. Day 167- Pitch in for Baseball and First Pool Day

What a difference a year makes!  Armando Galarraga technically (but not officially) pitched a perfect game for the Tigers last year.  He's currently playing for the Diamondbacks now and not even a Tiger anymore, but I'd still like to make a donation in honor of his (almost?) accomplishment last year. Pitch in for Baseball is a charity that focuses on kids.  The program lists four crucial goals on its website: • To support the growth of baseball in the U.S. and internationally. • To give kids equipment so they can get out, have fun and stay healthy. • To teach kids important lessons through baseball, like teamwork and sportsmanship. • To make friends across the world through America's pastime.
